HOW THE SERVICE WORKS
acific surveys your operation and creates a custom floor cleaning program based on your cleaning habits
The treatment needed for different types of floors is very different.[2] For safety it is most important to ensure the floor is not left even slightly wet after cleaning or mopping up.[3]
Sawdust is used on some floors to absorb any liquids that fall rather than trying to prevent them being spilt. The sawdust is swept up and replaced each day. This was common in the past in pubs and is still used in some butchers and fishmongers.[4]
It used to be common to use tea leaves to collect dirt from carpets and remove odours.[5] Nowadays it is sill quite common to use diatomaceous earth, or in fact any cat litter type material, to remove infestations from floors.
There are also a wide variety of floor cleaning machines available today such as floor buffers, automatic floor scrubbers and sweepers, and carpet extractors that can deep clean almost any type of hard floor or carpeted flooring surface in much less time than it would take using a traditional cleaning method.[6]
Wood flooring
Wood flooring should be treated completely differently depending on whether it waxed or oiled, or whether it has a polyurethane coating.[7] It is important to determine the type of finish of a wood floor and always treat it the appropriate way, for instance it is difficult to clear wood floor wax from a polyurethane floor.
Tile floors
Nowadays many modern kitchens, stairs and bathrooms have tile flooring. Dirt or dust should first be removed with a vacuum cleaner or a broom. Then, a dry cloth duster or dust mop should be run over the floors after they have been swept. In the end, washing and drying tiles with warm water and later a dry mop or towel will cleanse tiles easily.[8]
Reducing the need for cleaning
Good well-maintained entrance matting can dramatically reduce the need for cleaning. For public and office buildings about 80 to 90% of the dirt is tracked in from outside. Installing a total of 15 feet of matting consisting of both indoor and outdoor sections will remove about 80% of this.[9][10] Thus about two-thirds of the dirt can be removed at the entrance.

Homekeeping Hints: How To Clean, Fix & Maintain Tile Floors
You have a new tile floor, and it’s gleaming and gorgeous. Or maybe you have a 70-year-old checkerboard floor that could use some TLC. Either way, this list of tips can help you maintain your floor for years to come.
This may be common sense, but dirt can easily scratch tile surfaces so it’s important to keep your floor clean by regularly sweeping or vacuuming it. A little preventative manintenance goes a long way.
Mop once a week. For most floors, a solution of 1/4 cup of Castile soap (Like Dr. Bronner’s) and 2 gallons warm water will work. For marble floors, which can dull with the regular use of detergent, try a very diluted, mild solution of dishwashing soap and water.
Another great cleaning solution, especially for greasy floors, is a mix of distilled white vinegar and warm water. Don’t use this solution on marble floors, however, since the vinegar will erode them.
Make the grout look shiny and new. After mopping, make a paste of baking soda and water. Rub the paste into the grout using an old toothbrush (electric ones work great) and rinse off. If the stains are really bad, you can apply plain baking soda, add a bit of distilled white vinegar, and let the solution sit for an hour before you begin scrubbing.
If you’re serious about your shiny floors, consider dry mopping with a Shine Mop after you’re done wet mopping.
If you have an older waxed floor that suffering from wax build up, then it’s time to strip and rewax it. Make your own cleaning solution by mixing 3/4 cup of ammonia with 1 cup of laundry detergent and 1 gallon of warm water. Mop the floor with the solution, let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then clean with a scrubbing sponge or stiff scrub brush. Rinse the floors with clean water, let dry, and apply new wax.
Have a scratched tile? If it goes all the way to the white part of the tile, you’ll have to replace the tile. If not, you can probably buff it out. If your tiles are porcelain or ceramic, you can buy a scratch repair kit. You can also try using a small bit of either toothpaste or brass polish. Rub into the floor using a soft cloth and circular motions, then rinse. If the floors are laminate, take a trip to the hardware store and try either a wax pencil or silicone putty to repair. If you have minor cracks in a marble floor, you’ll need acetone and epoxy — try these directions for help.
Have a broken tile? Don’t despair — follow this easy tutorial from This Old House to repair and replace it.

Ceramic-tile floors can be cleaned easily with nothing but warm water, but be sure to sweep or vacuum first to remove any loose soil or grit. Never use a sponge mop to clean ceramic-tile floors. It will pull the dirt right into the grout tracks. This makes the floor more difficult to clean. A micro-fiber mop picks up all the dirt that a sponge mop leaves behind. Pour the ingredients into a bucket and use a rag or micro-fiber mop to clean. If you do use a rag and the on-your-hands-and-knees method, be sure to wipe in a circular motion across the floor. Don’t forget the cabinets and baseboards. If you have really dirty grout, use a brush.
Clean Hardwood Floors
Use boiling water and two teabags to clean hardwood floors. The tannic acid in tea creates a beautiful shine for hardwood floors. Let two teabags steep in the boiling water for a few minutes. Pour the tea into a bucket. Take a soft cloth and wring it out in the tea. The cloth merely needs to be damp, not soaked. This will enable the floor to dry quickly. Wash the floor and be ready to be amazed by the sheen.
Fill in any Scratches
If there are scratches that stand out after cleaning the hardwood floor, simply take a crayon the color of the floor and rub it on the scratch to fill the gap. Turn a blow dryer on high, heat the area where the crayon was applied and buff it with a soft cloth.
Clean Vinyl Floors
Mix borax in a bucket of warm water and wash the floor.

Keeping restaurant carpets clean presents some interesting challenges. Cleaning must factor in foot traffic, airborne grease and oil and liquid and food spills.
A first step to keeping restaurant carpets clean and healthy is vacuuming. While a vacuum cleaner may not be able to remove particulates of grease and oil that have settled into carpets, the bulk of soil in a carpet is dry soil such as dust, dirt, and food crumbs. High-performing and effective vacuum cleaners are designed to remove a great deal of this dry soil, preventing it from damaging carpet fibers, helping to keep the carpet clean and healthy, and even extending the life of the carpet. For deeper cleaning, managers should understand the four fundamentals of carpet cleaning and soil removal, often referred to as TACT:T: TemperatureA: AgitationC: Chemicals used to clean carpetsT: Time necessary for the chemicals to dissolve and loosen soilsAll four components of TACT are essential to suspension, the process of loosening soils on a surface or a carpet fiber so that it can be removed using a mechanical device such as a hot-water extractor. To see how soil suspension and TACT are interconnected, it might help to examine what goes on behind the scenes when carpets are extracted. The cleaning processAfter vacuuming to remove dry soils, carpet cleaning technicians typically spray the carpets with a chemical, the C in TACT. This process is referred to as “prespraying” the carpets and is the first step in soil suspension. A number of different types of chemicals used to prespray carpets, and some are enzymatic. An enzymatic prespray is designed to actually eat soils. Because the soiling of a restaurant carpet may contain proteins from food spills, bacteria, grease and oil, an enzymatic cleaner can be an effective chemical to employ.Next, the chemical will need time to be effective, which brings us to the T in TACT. Most cleaning chemicals need several minutes to start dissolving soils. For this reason, the technician typically presprays a large area of the carpet before taking any further carpet cleaning steps. Some green-certified chemicals may need more time to “dwell” on carpets than conventional cleaners, and an enzymatic prespray may take far longer. Depending on the extensiveness of the protein soiling, an enzymatic cleaner may need to dwell on a carpet for one or more hours to work effectively. The next step in soil suspension involves agitation, the A in TACT. To understand agitation, picture hand washing. Even with soap allowed to dwell for a few seconds, to really loosen and rinse away soils requires some type of agitation, rubbing the two hands together. The same is true when cleaning carpets.

Our Carpet Cleaning Process
Most carpet cleaners have one solution to cleaning carpets whether it’s a restaurant, an office building or a home.
Many carpets use only steam and extraction cleaning methods for all cases. While our system uses heat extraction for the greasiest areas just outside of the kitchen, we also use a 3 head rotary scrubber that will deep clean all of the carpet fibers and clean your carpet more efficiently.
We use an encapsulation solution that traps and lifts grease so it can be easily vacuumed.
Dries in approximately 30 minutes but can be immediately walked on. The faster drying process will prevent stains from reappearing. No more recurring spill stains!
We save you money. We clean 30% faster than traditional methods and pass the cost savings to you. You don’t have hidden costs with us. We don’t need open doors costing you energy, we don’t use hundreds or thousands of gallons of your water, and we don’t up-sell extras.

For many, spring is a rebirth of life and time to rejuvenate the home with a thorough cleaning. The IICRC reminds consumers that a quality cleaning regimen can be good for their health by enhancing the indoor air quality of the home.
A survey conducted by the IICRC found that more than eight out of 10 U.S. homeowners feel their family’s health is directly related to the cleanliness of floors in the home. The survey results, in conjunction with other similar findings, also discuss a long-standing misperception that carpet is the least effective type of flooring when it comes to minimizing conditions that aggravate allergies. In reality, the opposite is true. Scientific studies have shown carpet to be more effective in trapping allergens keeping them from becoming airborne inside the home. The key is proper cleaning.
The IICRC offers 10 tips for simple clean-up to improve indoor air quality:
Keep Walkway and Entries Clean – Start by keeping outside sidewalks, entry areas, porches and steps clean. Sweep, dust, vacuum or use a leaf blower to remove soil and debris from entries to eliminate tracking into the facility.
Use Mats to Trap Soil at Entries – Outside and interior mats to trap and contain particles and moisture should be placed at each entry. This not only extends the life of carpet, it greatly reduces the quantity of particles that enter and build up within traffic areas, eventually becoming airborne.
Clean Shoes at Entries – Studies conducted by professional engineers on carpet dust samples indicate that fine particles containing lead are reduced by cleaning or removing and leaving shoes at the entry.
Purchase and Use High Quality Vacuum Equipment – A quality, durable upright vacuum with brush agitation is a must. Price is not as important as quality. Check trade or consumer magazines and expect sales persons to provide technically accurate information.
Use High Efficiency Vacuum Filter Bag – Using high-efficiency double-lined vacuum filter bags can filter out 99 percent of particles down to one micron or less in size. Avoid cheap paper filter bags that remove particles down to seven microns only. Small particles that pass easily through paper filter bags are a major source of respiratory irritation, as well as household dust.
Vacuum Frequency – Consumers should increase the frequency of vacuuming to stop soil from sifting downward and becoming embedded in the carpet pile. Vacuuming should be done more slowly in entry areas where most particle soils accumulate. Vacuum slowly over traffic areas two or three times.
Heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) Filters – Use quality pleated or reusable electrostatic filters for HVAC systems. Reusable filters have acrylic rods that vibrate and create a static electricity that charges soil particles, thereby attracting them to the filter. Anticipate a cost of between $50 and $100 for quality filters. Reusable filters should be removed and flushed free of collected soils on a monthly basis.
Clean the Carpet – Professional hot water extraction cleaning lifts and suspends fine particles of soil. Then careful extraction flushes them from carpet fibers.
Clean Other Soft Surfaces – Clean upholstery, drapery, bedding and other fabric surfaces regularly; wash linens weekly to remove allergens.
Control Moisture and Humidity – Dust mites and mold are the two most common allergens present in higher humidity climates. Dust mite infestation can be eliminated if the relative humidity of a home/building, not just a particular area, is consistently maintained below 50 percent.

Many homes feature tile floors because tile is attractive and more durable than other flooring options. In order to maintain the appearance of tile flooring, it’s important to keep it clean. Try these cleaning tips to keep your tile looking like new.
Keep dirt off your tile floor
Your tile’s first line of defense against dirt is a doormat. According to the World Floor Covering Association (WFCA), dirt that is tracked across tile flooring will wear away the finished surface. By keeping doormats or area rugs inside every door of your house, you can prevent excessive dirt from coming into contact with your tile floor.
Clean regularly
Doormats won’t keep all the dirt out, so regular maintenance is the next step in keeping tile floors clean. Sweep or vacuum up debris at least once a week and use a damp paper towel or sponge to wipe up any wet or sticky messes. Cleaning regularly can help to prevent serious dirt buildup and hard-to-remove stains, which are much more difficult and time consuming than day-to-day maintenance tasks.
Deep clean tough spots
In order to deep clean tile floors, you’ll need a dirt dissolving solution. Various types of grout and tile cleaners can be found at your local home improvement store. Some are specially formulated for ceramic tile, while others are made for use on natural stone tile. Make sure that the product you use doesn’t contain ammonia or anything acidic, such as lemon juice or vinegar because those ingredients can dull the surface of your floors.
Many tile cleaners can be sprayed right onto the floor and mopped up immediately, which is generally enough to remove surface dirt. However, ground-in dirt may require a little more elbow grease. If you have textured tile, you may need to use a soft-bristle brush or scrubber sponge. Avoid highly abrasive tools such as steel wool or scrubbing powders, which can permanently scratch the surface of your tile. Once your tile floor is free of dirt, rinse away any residue with clean, warm water.
If you don’t have time to give your tile floors a thorough cleaning yourself, check for local consumer reviews on floor cleaning experts. For more information, please visit the Guide to Floor Cleaning.
Keeping Restaurant Carpet Professionally Cleaned Is Good For Business (Newport Beach)
Restaurants spend hours cleaning cooking surfaces, counter tops, and customer seating areas. One area that can be neglected over time is flooring.
Employees can mop and vacuum floors multiple times a day but, as months go by, accumulated grease and dirt can build up, especially if staff have frequent spills. A dingy, dirty carpet can make customers feel like the whole restaurant is unclean.
Professional Services
By bringing a professional carpet cleaning service in on a regular basis, a restaurant can keep build-up at a minimum, removing dirt and debris and keeping floors looking brand new. Restaurants may not even realize how dingy carpeting has become over the years until a professional service cleans it up. Customers notice, though, and that first impression could lead guests to assume that a restaurant may be neglecting other areas of operations, as well.
Many Newport Beach restaurants rely on Pacific Carpet & Tile Cleaning in Newport Beach for their carpet cleaning needs. Using a special cleaning method, our professional team safely and efficiently removes dirt and freshens carpet during the hours the restaurant is closed, avoiding a costly interruption in operations. When regularly scheduled, this cleaning can keep dirt at bay, giving a restaurant a freshly-cleaned look on an ongoing basis.
Cleaning Process
The first step of the restaurant carpet cleaning process is to use a scrub to remove surface debris. Step two is to remove deep dirt by using an extract. Our cleaning technicians specialize in the unique needs of restaurant carpeting, using a chemical specifically designed to handle restaurant carpeting.
Restaurant carpeting has its own challenges, not only because of the degree of damage food does on a daily basis, but because tables, chairs, and booths often must be moved out of the way to facilitate the cleaning process. The first-time cleaning can be extensive, especially if a restaurant has not previously had a cleaning. To maintain carpeting and prevent future needs for heavy-duty cleaning service, most professional cleaning services recommend restaurants have monthly carpet cleaning.
Special Pricing
We offer competitive pricing on restaurant carpet cleaning, helping restaurants stay within budget. To help restaurants enjoy the many benefits of a regular deep cleaning, we are currently offering a discounted rate for those who sign up carpet cleaning. Services can be done in coordination with each other to save a restaurant time and money.
